Open standards

KNX & Shelly

Start a conversation

Not every project suits a single-manufacturer system. KNX and Shelly give flexible, open alternatives, and we specify them where they are the right fit for the house.

KNX

KNX is an open standard for wired building control used across Europe. Hundreds of manufacturers make compatible switches, sensors and actuators, so the system is not tied to one supplier.

It suits new builds and major renovations, where cabling can be planned from the start for lighting, heating, blinds and sensors.

Shelly

Shelly modules fit behind existing switches and sockets to add control to lighting, heating or blinds without rewiring. They are a practical way to bring individual circuits into a wider system, or to automate an outbuilding or annexe.

Questions we are asked

Is KNX better than a proprietary system?

It is different. KNX offers flexibility and choice of hardware; proprietary systems can offer a more polished app. We will recommend what suits your project.

Can Shelly work with our main system?

In many cases, yes. We check compatibility as part of the design.
